Third-Party Software Notices

Open-source components distributed with the BESO Excel add-in — version 1.0.8.8 and later

BESO incorporates software from the third-party projects listed on this page. Each project is named below with its version, the licence under which Agere Infrastructure Partners, S.L. received it, and the copyright notice and licence text that the licence requires to be reproduced with a binary distribution.

Nothing on this page alters the BESO End User Licence Agreement or the BESO Terms of Service. Each notice applies only to the third-party component it accompanies, not to BESO itself.

Complete notices file

This page is a navigable summary. The authoritative document is the plain text file below, which is installed alongside the add-in from BESO 1.0.8.8 onwards and is the version of record where the two differ.

The file carries everything on this page and, in addition: the notice files that the SkiaSharp and QuestPDF projects publish for the native libraries they supply, reproduced whole (these are the bulk of the document, and they are those projects’ own upstream inventories, not a list of what BESO links); the full licence texts for bzip2, the GCC Runtime Library Exception and MinGW-w64 winpthreads; the six licence notices retained inside the embedded mermaid build, reproduced byte for byte; and a record of where every licence text and every copyright notice in the document came from.

The help viewer renders diagrams with mermaid (mermaid.min.js, version 10.x; the bundle’s own version constant reads 10.9.5). Copyright (c) 2014 - 2022 Knut Sveidqvist, MIT License.

That file is not mermaid alone: it is a bundle, and the minifier stripped most of the copyright headers inside it, mermaid’s own included. The two tables below are therefore not a closed list of what the bundle contains. The first is what the shipped file still declares about itself — six licence notices survive in it, and the complete notices file reproduces all six byte for byte. The second is the projects that could be identified in the bundle by their own code and interface strings, whose copyright notices were read from each project’s published LICENSE file. Strings belonging to ELK (elkjs), dagre and d3 are also present in the file; they are named here rather than attributed, because the version and licence of the bundled builds were not established from a primary source. The authoritative statement of what a mermaid release bundles is the dependency manifest the mermaid project publishes for that release.

Zlib License

Applies to Excel-DNA 1.9.0, which provides the add-in host that BESO is packaged into. Its licence requires that this notice not be removed from a source distribution; it does not impose an attribution requirement on a binary distribution such as BESO, and is reproduced here for completeness. BESO does not modify Excel-DNA; it packages it unaltered.

Apache License, Version 2.0

Applies to Noda Time 3.1.11, to Clarabel 0.11.1 as distributed in clarabel_c.dll, to qpdf as distributed in qpdf.dll, and to DOMPurify 3.2.4 as elected below. A complete copy of the licence follows. Noda Time is attributed to the Noda Time Authors (project lead: Jon Skeet): neither NodaTime.dll nor the package manifest publishes a copyright notice, so that attribution comes from the project itself. Noda Time also publishes a NOTICE file of the kind section 4(d) of this licence provides for; the package does not ship it, and it is reproduced in the complete notices file.

Clarabel — Copyright 2022 University of Oxford Control Group. It is the one component here that Agere Infrastructure Partners, S.L. compiles itself: no packaged build of this solver exists for .NET, so clarabel_c.dll is built from the project’s own source at a pinned commit of each of its two repositories, with no source change and no departure from the project’s build defaults. Clarabel is offered under this licence alone — there is no dual licence and nothing to elect — and it publishes no NOTICE file of the kind section 4(d) provides for, which was verified over both source trees on 7 August 2026. The copyright line above is the one carried by the LICENSE.md at the root of both. Being statically linked, that DLL also carries fifteen further Rust crates and the Rust standard library compiled inside it; the complete notices file lists every one of them with its licence, states the licence elected where a crate offers a choice, and reproduces the two licence texts that appear nowhere else — the BSD 3-Clause licence of the amd ordering routine, whose text is not the Microsoft one above, and the Unicode License V3, which covers one file of the Rust standard library and cannot be elected away.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR USE, REPRODUCTION, AND DISTRIBUTION

   1. Definitions.

"License" shall mean the terms and conditions for use, reproduction,
and distribution as defined by Sections 1 through 9 of this document.

"Licensor" shall mean the copyright owner or entity authorized by
the copyright owner that is granting the License.

"Legal Entity" shall mean the union of the acting entity and all
other entities that control, are controlled by, or are under common
control with that entity. For the purposes of this definition,
"control" means (i) the power, direct or indirect, to cause the
direction or management of such entity, whether by contract or
otherwise, or (ii) ownership of fifty percent (50%) or more of the
outstanding shares, or (iii) beneficial ownership of such entity.

"You" (or "Your") shall mean an individual or Legal Entity
exercising permissions granted by this License.

"Source" form shall mean the preferred form for making modifications,
including but not limited to software source code, documentation
      source, and configuration files.

"Object" form shall mean any form resulting from mechanical
transformation or translation of a Source form, including but
not limited to compiled object code, generated documentation,
and conversions to other media types.

"Work" shall mean the work of authorship, whether in Source or
Object form, made available under the License, as indicated by a
copyright notice that is included in or attached to the work
(an example is provided in the Appendix below).

"Derivative Works" shall mean any work, whether in Source or Object
form, that is based on (or derived from) the Work and for which the
editorial revisions, annotations, elaborations, or other modifications
represent, as a whole, an original work of authorship. For the purposes
of this License, Derivative Works shall not include works that remain
separable from, or merely link (or bind by name) to the interfaces of,
the Work and Derivative Works thereof.

"Contribution" shall mean any work of authorship, including
the original version of the Work and any modifications or additions
to that Work or Derivative Works thereof, that is intentionally
submitted to Licensor for inclusion in the Work by the copyright owner
or by an individual or Legal Entity authorized to submit on behalf of
the copyright owner. For the purposes of this definition, "submitted"
means any form of electronic, verbal, or written communication sent
to the Licensor or its representatives, including but not limited to
communication on electronic mailing lists, source code control systems,
and issue tracking systems that are managed by, or on behalf of, the
Licensor for the purpose of discussing and improving the Work, but
excluding communication that is conspicuously marked or otherwise
designated in writing by the copyright owner as "Not a Contribution."

"Contributor" shall mean Licensor and any individual or Legal Entity
on behalf of whom a Contribution has been received by Licensor and
      subsequently incorporated within the Work.

   2. Grant of Copyright License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
      worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
copyright license to reproduce, prepare Derivative Works of,
publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute the
Work and such Derivative Works in Source or Object form.

   3. Grant of Patent License. Subject to the terms and conditions of
this License, each Contributor hereby grants to You a perpetual,
      worldwide, non-exclusive, no-charge, royalty-free, irrevocable
(except as stated in this section) patent license to make, have made,
use, offer to sell, sell, import, and otherwise transfer the Work,
where such license applies only to those patent claims licensable
by such Contributor that are necessarily infringed by their
Contribution(s) alone or by combination of their Contribution(s)
with the Work to which such Contribution(s) was submitted. If You
institute patent litigation against any entity (including a
cross-claim or counterclaim in a lawsuit) alleging that the Work
or a Contribution incorporated within the Work constitutes direct
or contributory patent infringement, then any patent licenses
granted to You under this License for that Work shall terminate
as of the date such litigation is filed.

   4. Redistribution. You may reproduce and distribute copies of the
Work or Derivative Works thereof in any medium, with or without
modifications, and in Source or Object form, provided that You
      meet the following conditions:

      (a) You must give any other recipients of the Work or
Derivative Works a copy of this License; and

      (b) You must cause any modified files to carry prominent notices
stating that You changed the files; and

      (c) You must retain, in the Source form of any Derivative Works
that You distribute, all copyright, patent, trademark, and
attribution notices from the Source form of the Work,
excluding those notices that do not pertain to any part of
          the Derivative Works; and

      (d) If the Work includes a "NOTICE" text file as part of its
distribution, then any Derivative Works that You distribute must
include a readable copy of the attribution notices contained
within such NOTICE file, excluding those notices that do not
pertain to any part of the Derivative Works, in at least one
of the following places: within a NOTICE text file distributed
as part of the Derivative Works; within the Source form or
documentation, if provided along with the Derivative Works; or,
within a display generated by the Derivative Works, if and
wherever such third-party notices normally appear. The contents
of the NOTICE file are for informational purposes only and
do not modify the License. You may add Your own attribution
notices within Derivative Works that You distribute, alongside
or as an addendum to the NOTICE text from the Work, provided
that such additional attribution notices cannot be construed
          as modifying the License.

You may add Your own copyright statement to Your modifications and
may provide additional or different license terms and conditions
for use, reproduction, or distribution of Your modifications, or
for any such Derivative Works as a whole, provided Your use,
reproduction, and distribution of the Work otherwise complies with
the conditions stated in this License.

   5. Submission of Contributions. Unless You explicitly state otherwise,
any Contribution intentionally submitted for inclusion in the Work
by You to the Licensor shall be under the terms and conditions of
this License, without any additional terms or conditions.
Notwithstanding the above, nothing herein shall supersede or modify
the terms of any separate license agreement you may have executed
      with Licensor regarding such Contributions.

   6. Trademarks. This License does not grant permission to use the trade
names, trademarks, service marks, or product names of the Licensor,
except as required for reasonable and customary use in describing the
origin of the Work and reproducing the content of the NOTICE file.

   7. Disclaimer of Warranty. Unless required by applicable law or
agreed to in writing, Licensor provides the Work (and each
Contributor provides its Contributions) on an "AS IS" BASIS,
WITHOUT WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, either express or
implied, including, without limitation, any warranties or conditions
of TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, or FITNESS FOR A
PARTICULAR PURPOSE. You are solely responsible for determining the
appropriateness of using or redistributing the Work and assume any
risks associated with Your exercise of permissions under this License.

   8. Limitation of Liability. In no event and under no legal theory,
whether in tort (including negligence), contract, or otherwise,
unless required by applicable law (such as deliberate and grossly
negligent acts) or agreed to in writing, shall any Contributor be
liable to You for damages, including any direct, indirect, special,
incidental, or consequential damages of any character arising as a
result of this License or out of the use or inability to use the
Work (including but not limited to damages for loss of goodwill,
work stoppage, computer failure or malfunction, or any and all
other commercial damages or losses), even if such Contributor
has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

   9. Accepting Warranty or Additional Liability. While redistributing
the Work or Derivative Works thereof, You may choose to offer,
and charge a fee for, acceptance of support, warranty, indemnity,
or other liability obligations and/or rights consistent with this
License. However, in accepting such obligations, You may act only
on Your own behalf and on Your sole responsibility, not on behalf
of any other Contributor, and only if You agree to indemnify,
defend, and hold each Contributor harmless for any liability
incurred by, or claims asserted against, such Contributor by reason
of your accepting any such warranty or additional liability.

   END OF TERMS AND CONDITIONS

APPENDIX: How to apply the Apache License to your work.

To apply the Apache License to your work, attach the following
boilerplate notice, with the fields enclosed by brackets "[]"
replaced with your own identifying information. (Don't include
the brackets!) The text should be enclosed in the appropriate
comment syntax for the file format. We also recommend that a
file or class name and description of purpose be included on the
same "printed page" as the copyright notice for easier
      identification within third-party archives.

Notes on specific components

QuestPDF licence tier

QuestPDF is offered under three licences: the QuestPDF Community MIT License, which is free of charge, and the paid Professional and Enterprise licences. Which one applies depends on the annual gross revenue of the company using the library and, above the revenue threshold, on the number of developers working on projects that use it.

Agere Infrastructure Partners, S.L. uses QuestPDF under the QuestPDF Community MIT License. That determination was made on 1 August 2026, on the basis that the annual gross revenue of the company is below the USD 1,000,000 threshold stated in the QuestPDF package licence. It is to be reviewed whenever that figure changes.

DOMPurify licence election

DOMPurify 3.2.4, which is bundled inside the mermaid build embedded in the add-in, is offered under either the Apache License, Version 2.0 or the Mozilla Public License, Version 2.0, at the option of the recipient. Agere Infrastructure Partners, S.L. elects the Apache License, Version 2.0, and distributes DOMPurify under that licence only. Copyright Cure53 and other contributors.

Native libraries whose licence text is published only by the project

The following libraries are installed with BESO. The packages that supply them ship no licence file, so each licence text was read from the project’s own published sources on 1 August 2026 and is reproduced in full in the complete notices file. What follows states which licence each library is published under; it does not state what that licence implies for BESO, which is a legal question and is not answered here.

  • bzip2 (bz2.dll) — distributed under the bzip2 / libbzip2 licence. The installed binary declares no version resource and carries no copyright string of its own; the notice reproduced in the complete file is the LICENSE published by the bzip2 project (Copyright (C) 1996-2019 Julian R Seward).
  • GCC runtime libraries (libgcc_s_seh-1.dll, libstdc++-6.dll), supplied with QuestPDF — distributed under the GNU General Public License, Version 3, with the GCC Runtime Library Exception, version 3.1. The GPL, version 3, is a copyleft licence; the Exception itself says so, its section 2 being headed “No Weakening of GCC Copyleft”. The Exception is reproduced in full in the complete notices file; the GPL text is published at gnu.org/licenses/gpl-3.0.txt.
  • MinGW-w64 winpthreads (libwinpthread-1.dll), supplied with QuestPDF — Copyright (c) 2011 mingw-w64 project, MIT-style permissive licence; parts derived from the Lockless Inc. Posix Threads library for Microsoft Windows, (C) 2010 Lockless Inc., under a 3-clause BSD notice. Both notices are reproduced in full in the complete notices file.

Notices reproduced from upstream suppliers

The complete notices file reproduces, whole and unchanged, the notice files that the SkiaSharp and QuestPDF projects publish with their native packages. Those are the inventories those projects keep of their own supply chains, and they list material that appears nowhere else in these notices — including, in SkiaSharp’s case, the GNU Lesser General Public License, Version 2.1 (for libmicrohttpd) and the Adobe DNG SDK License Agreement, a proprietary agreement. Reproducing them unchanged is the point. They are not a list of the software BESO links, and nothing in these notices establishes which parts of those inventories are compiled into the libraries BESO installs.

Maintenance

This page is a navigable summary of the notices file installed with the add-in; that file is the authoritative document and this page is derived from it. It is not a copy: the page omits the two upstream notice files reproduced whole (SkiaSharp and QuestPDF), the licence texts reproduced in full for bzip2, the GCC Runtime Library Exception and MinGW-w64 winpthreads, the verbatim block of notices retained inside the embedded mermaid build, the inventory of the software linked inside clarabel_c.dll together with the BSD 3-Clause and Unicode texts reproduced there, and the record of where each text in the document came from. Where the page and the file differ, the file governs. Download it above.

Both are reviewed whenever a third-party dependency is added, removed or upgraded, whenever a native library appears in or disappears from the files the installer copies, whenever an embedded web asset is replaced, and whenever the licence terms of an existing dependency change — including a change in which tier of a multi-tier licence applies.
